Paper Bags will be available to city residents at City Hall starting October 15th – Monday through Friday – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Leaves will be picked up starting on October 29th and end on December 14th. 

Please use paper bags.  Plastic bags will be removed at a later date.

The City of Salem Street Department will not remove the following items from curb lawns:

  • Limbs that are cut.  Only storm damage will be picked up.
  • Grass clippings
  • Shrubs/Bushes
  • Any other yard waste

Bags of leaves are only picked up in the Fall.  

Halloween Events

The annual Halloween Parade is Thursday, October 25th.   Line up starts at 5:30 pm in front of Salem City Hall and begins at 6:00 pm.  The parade proceeds to the Kent State City Center for judging and prizes.  

Trick or Treat will be held on October 31st from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
