BEING A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO FILE AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF OHIO, TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FY '99 SMALL CITIES COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FORMULA PROGRAM AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the State of Ohio Department of Development provides for financial assistance to local governments for the purpose of addressing local needs;
WHEREAS, the City of Salem desires to participate in the program to receive financial assistance for revitalization under the FY '99 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Formula Program;
WHEREAS, the City of Salem has the authority to apply for financial assistance and to administer the amounts received from the State of Ohio, Department of Development, through its Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Formula Program.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALEM, STATE OF OHIO:
SECTION 1:
That the Mayor of the City of Salem be authorized to file an application to participate in the State of Ohio, Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Formula Program, for fiscal year 1999 and provide all information and documentation required in said application for submission.
SECTION 2:
That the City of Salem hereby approves filing an application for financial assistance under the FY 99 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program.
SECTION 3:
That the City of Salem hereby understands and agrees that participation in the program will require compliance with program guidelines and assurances.
SECTION 4:
This Resolution is, by this Council, found and declared to be an emergency measure, and shall go into immediate force and effect upon passage and approval by the Mayor. It is necessary that this Resolution take immediate effect to preserve and maintain the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety.
