BEING AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY OR THE MAYOR TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OR LEASE OF ONE (1) FIRE PUMPER FIRE TRUCK, BASED UPON THE BID SPECIFICATIONS AS DRAFTED BY COLIN R. BEICHLER OF FIRE TRUCKS SPECIALISTS, INC., AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALEM, STATE OF OHIO:

SECTION 1:

That Director of Public Safety or the Mayor be authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase or lease of one (1) fire pumper fire truck based upon the bid specifications as drafted by Colin R. Beichler of Fire Trucks Specialists, Inc.

SECTION 2:

All bids received shall be subject to approval or rejection by the City Council Traffic and Safety Committee.

SECTION 3:

This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating tot he adoption of this Ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and of its committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public in compliance with the law.

SECTION 4:

That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety in the City of Salem, and shall go into immediate effect for the reason that it is immediately necessary to update the equipment of the Salem Fire Department to provide fire protection for the citizens of Salem.
