BEING AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUPERINTENDENT OF UTILITIES TO ADVERTISE AND TO RECEIVE BIDS AND THE SALEM UTILITIES COMMISSION TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT TO CONSTRUCT TWO (2) STORAGE/GARAGE BUILDINGS AS DESIGNED BY VOGEL, PETERS & ASSOCIATES, SALEM, OHIO AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALEM, STATE OF OHIO:

SECTION 1:

That the Superintendent of Utilities is hereby authorized to advertise and receive bids to construct one (1) storage/garage building at the Salem Water Treatment Plant, Gamble Road, Center Township and one (1) storage/garage building at the Salem Utilities Department Maintenance property at 475 West Second Street, Salem, Ohio and the Salem Utilities Commission to enter into contract for the same.

SECTION 2:

This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating tot he adoption of this Ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and of its committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public in compliance with the law.

SECTION 3:

That the costs for the buildings have been appropriated in the City of Salem 2000 Budget and will be paid for from Water and Wastewater Department Funds.

SECTION 4:

That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety in the City of Salem, and shall go into immediate effect for the reason that it si necessary to provide protected storage facilities for equipment and supplies of the Salem Utilities Department.
