BEING AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SAFETY DIRECTOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT THROUGH THE OHIO LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLE PURCHASE PROGRAM FOR THE PURCHASE OF FOUR (4) NEW POLICE CRUISERS AND ONE (1) NEW FOUR WHEEL DRIVE JEEP POLICE VEHICLE TO BE MADE SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE SALE OR TRADE IN OF THE OBSOLETE, UNFIT OR UNNEEDED POLICE VEHICLES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SALEM, STATE OF OHIO:
SECTION 1:
That the Safety Director be, and hereby is authorized to enter into contract for the purchase of four (4) new police cruisers and one (1) new four wheel drive Jeep police vehicle through the Ohio Law Enforcement Vehicle Purchase Program, at a cost of $99,261.00, to be made simultaneously with the sale or trade in of the obsolete, unfit or unneeded police vehicles.
SECTION 2:
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety in the City of Salem, and shall go into immediate effect for the reason that it is immediately necessary to replace the old police vehicles.
